Keratex Hoof Putty is a unique, semi-permanent wax-based filling designed to plug holes in the sole of the hoof, enabling safe turnout and aiding recovery from abscesses, punctures, and hoof separation.

Ideal for use after:

• Abscess drainage

• Minor puncture wounds (once disinfected)

• Hoof wall separation

• Veterinary or farrier treatments requiring a cavity seal

Once moulded into the hoof, the putty creates a dense, protective plug that prevents grit, mud, and bacteria from entering the cavity—supporting a clean, effective healing process. It also contains disinfectant properties to maintain hygiene at the site of application.

Common uses include:

• Plugging uninfected punctures post-disinfection when a poultice is no longer needed

• Sealing abscess exit points after draining and treatment

• Providing cushioning and extra support in cases of spring grass-related hoof issues (e.g., between lily pad and frog)

How to Use:
Warm the putty in clean hands or gently in warm water to soften it. Then press firmly into the cavity until you have a compact, secure seal. It will re-harden within the hoof to a natural hoof-like consistency for long-lasting support.

Note: The putty is firm in the tin but softens quickly when warmed by hand. Store at room temperature for best ease of use.
